The Parador is located at a hill overlooking the city of Jaén next to the castillo, one of the main sights of Jaén. The building itself is pretty old and has a very special atmosphere, you feel like living in a castle during your stay. The rooms are authentic, nice and clean, the view from the balcony is awesome. If you go there, include breakfast into your booking, it‘s very good, offers a lot of options (taste the churros!) and the atmosphere in the restaurant with the old arches and matching backgroubd music is absolutely dignified. The dishes in the cafeteria are also quite good and again, the atmosphere in the high medivial room is really nice. When we went to the city center, we took a 30 minutes walk down there and back by taxi for 11 Euro. What we also very enjoyed is the view from the mirador close to the hotel, nice at daytime and stunning at the evening when it gets dark…

The building is majestic and beautiful with spectacular views. Room was spacious and had a terrace looking out over the countryside. Swimming pool was very much appreciated given heat as was air conditioning in bedroom. Parking was free in front of hotel. A car is a definite must as hotel is a steep climb at over a kilometer from town center. Bar area and dining room are both to be seen as massive rooms with splendid architectural features dating from the buildings finest era and all beautifully preserved. Staff were friendly and helpful when they could understand us. The buffet breakfast was lovely and copious with many local specialities. We had the omlettes on the à la carte menu which were delicious. The dinner on the terrace was a fabulous setting. The dishes were good and tasty.

This Parador is excellent in all respects and it was one of the most relaxing 3-days stay we have ever had. The location is superb; the building oozes class and history. The overall ambience was superb and the breakfast and evening meal were excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful, and reception spent time to explain the route of a nearby walk I wanted to do. The walk down the hill through the forest was pleasant, and it was not too far to the Arab Baths and the Cathedral. Red squirrels can be seen in the Forest and Ibex roam the hill behind the hotel. A visit to the castle next door is well worth while, as is the walk to the cross a little further, where there is an excellent view of the cathedral below.

The location of this Parador is just fantastic with views over the surrounding countryside. We ate in the restaurant both nights of our stay and would recommend the food and the great service. Jaén is an interesting place and good to visit. It was too far for us to walk so we took taxis in and out of the town as we didn't want to drive. They are cheap and made the journey very easy. We loved our room with its balcony and fresh breezes. A lovely place to stay. A big thank you to all of the staff and the fabulous chefs

You cannot get a more dramatic location for Jaen, overlooking the city and the hills. The Parador was absolutely stunning and the views from the pool area beautiful. The decor is so inspiring. The castle is actually separate but only a euro or so to visit with friendly informative staff. The staff of the Parador were friendly and helpful. The bedrooms spacious and huge balconies. We got interconnecting bedrooms as with our 2 children. Jaen is a great city with a museum that is free to visit the historical Arab Baths.
